For the record, last night, I managed the Quote of the Day all on my own when I saw a woman dressed totally inappropriately for her age and body-type and actually exclaimed OUT LOUD:
"Are those her legs!? Oh god, I thought she had on baggy leggings."

I keep meaning to tell you all about a most hilarious driving experience I had a couple weeks ago... Coming home from work on a Friday night, when a red light changed to green, the car in front of me wasn't moving.
I mean, it's a Friday night - the night you REALLY wanna get home, right? I tapped my horn.
She moved out the lane altogether and I moved up to make my right turn. But she must have changed her mind because she came after me. And at the next red light, she pulled up next to me. Out of the corner of my eye, I could see she was making strange gestures out the window at my car and I could not resist rolling down my passenger-side window to see what she wanted.
Her: DO YOU HAVE A FAMILY? CHILDREN?
Her: Good. Because you're a CUNT.
At this point, I must say, I just burst out laughing.
Her: You think that's funny? Do you?
Me: Yeah, pretty much.
Her: You see that dolphin?
She pointed to a dolphin scent thingy I have hanging from the rearview mirror.
Her: That is a BEAUTIFUL CREATURE AND YOU DON"T DESERVE IT!!!
And with that, she sped off.
You gotta love LA traffic crazies. They are the best. She was deranged. In her pre 1990 Volvo with "I love America" type stickers all over it. She MUST love America to take such an interest in one of its citizens and beloved creatures (the dolphin, of course).

Work has been incredibly busy. We are diving into the busiest season for my field and I am swamped. I am working weekends at events and speed-typing through my weekdays, but I am rather enjoying it. And it's sure made for a nice change. On top of that, the teens I volunteer with continue to keep me happily busy. This has left me with only a little time to see friends and even less time to relax and sleep.
Which is probably why you haven't heard from me.
Halloween was a blast. After years of going to the same fabulous house party, my friends and I found we had nothing going on this year. The house party was retired (hopefully temporarily) and we all had big costumes but no big ideas. But I had a local bar set aside some space for us and we ended up with a pretty good showing and pretty fun party.
My love of hats continues -- I swear I only picked a Mad Hatter costume so I had an excuse to buy and decorate a top hat:

I don't know if any of you are into using Goodreads, but I love it. Social networking through literature. It's lovely. It's exposed me to what friends are reading and I have been reading far more lately. I'm currently obsessed with The Hunger Games and am nearly done with book two. It takes me back to the week in college when I read the first four Harry Potter books.
Also? Totally obsessed with Pinterest. I should warn you that if you have not discovered it yet, and click on that link, you will also become obsessed.

I am looking forward to the holidays this year. I have warm memories of last year but this year will not be tarnished by working on holiday themed projects at a job for months on end. I feel like I will be more able to embrace the season this year and feel the need to tinsel the crap out of my living room. I am excited about little weekend trips I have planned for December and January and hope the coming months bring a little sparkle and joy to my life, something I've been lacking for a while. I feel optimistic (admittedly with a tinge of caution) and hopeful and when I think of it all, I smile.
