I love a clever name or pun.
Some of my favorite clever brand names:
- 7/11 - Originally named U-Tote'm, changed in 1946 to reflect their new business hours.
- He'Brew: The Chosen Beer. Come ON. This is hilarious. By the SHMALTZ Brewing Company no less!
- Expert Briefs, a legal consultant agency I once saw. Their logo, no joke, had a pair of men's briefs in it. Bold but funny.
So I really enjoyed a brand recently brought to my attention, ingrEATients. How had no one thought of that yet? IngrEATients is an online shop that creates and sells high-end artisan nut-butters as well as other confectionary items like black and red bean brownies, fruit leather and protein bars.
They are barely a month old but were happy to send me a product of my choosing to review. Since the pistachio butter is their most popular item, and I do love pistachios, I could not resist requesting it.
I don't know what I was necessarily expecting. A lifetime love of JIF peanut butter, I guess I was not expecting a jar of GREEN stuff!
But I totally dug the packaging, branding and so forth. I couldn't wait to try it. So what else could I do but spoon right into it. And again, thinking of traditional peanut butter, I immediately noticed the texture. It's not silky smooth, it's definitely grainier, but I could totally taste the pistachio and the after-taste sweetness I love about them, and just LOVED this stuff.
So good.
A couple days later, I went ahead and tried it with my favorite jam and had me a non-traditional nut-butter and jelly sandwich. I prefer strawberry jam over grape, which I think with pistachio is a better choice anyway. It was just as delicious as my JIF, if not more, and it made for a nice change. And there's comfort in eating it, knowing that while it's a great treat, it's also created by certified personal trainer and nutritionist (and he's on Twitter, FYI), so you know it's pretty good for you, too.
I couldn't help but think, while I looked at it spread over a piece of bread, that it looks kind of like pesto, right?
But like I said, I love clever branding and I also love little start-ups like this and I hope you'll all give it a try. They even have a more traiditional peanut butter you could give a whirl. A jar of nut-butter is about $10 and you get the satisfaction of stepping outside the box and trying something fun and new.
I think next up, I need to get my grubby little hands of a jar of MAPLE BACON PEANUT BUTTER. I mean, are you kidding me with that?! Bacon, you guys. Just.... bacon.
Also, even though it's super early, I have to say, these would be super cute Christmas gifts if you're one of those people who likes to hand something out to everyone at work or to teachers. In the jars with a big red bow -- super cute, right?
But yeah... BACON. Really.
Disclosure: In case you ccouldn't tell, IngrEATients sent me a jar of this deliciousnuess gratis to try and honestly review here on the ol' blog.
