It's been more than a month since my last Menday. How tragic! I will make up for it with this extra special Menday post.
Meet the man. And the man's pet turtle. I'm not even kidding a little.
Colin Kaepernick is a quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers. From what I understand, he's a pretty solid player. Is he the best quarterback out there right now? I have no idea. Maybe not... There seems to be some debate about how "great" he really is. Apparently he played a "great" game this past weekend (I know squat about football, guys) and afterward in the press conference, his coach said as much. "Great with a capital 'G'," he said. I guess a couple reporters take that word seriously and went to town on it but whatever.
I mean, he looks like a pretty sweet guy.
Right? A sweetheart!
Oh HELLO. Maybe "sweet" isn't the right word either.
Well.... ANYWAY, I was turned onto him by my football-loving friends who also told me about his enormous pet turtle, Sammy. His 115 pound pet turtle who, when Kapernick was ten, fit into the palm of hs hand. He's an African Spurred Tortoise, to be exact, and expected to live about 150 years.
Sammy can be something of a terror but every story I read about this tough quarterback having a giant, pet tortoise just cracked me up. He's been able to escape a number of times, trailing neighborhood kids on their bikes, knocking over iron fencing, chewing up lawns.
Basically, you can't Menday a turtle so I wrote about Colin Kapernick but really, I just thought the turtle story was awesome.
P.S. He's not full grown yet.
